Department of Psychology was established in 2014. It offers two years course of Masters programme, the strength of students was 40. In 2015, department of psychology was converted to M.Sc. Psychology and presently strength of the student is 20. In the recent years psychology has emerged as one of the most important and leading discipline and is expanding its horizon rapidly.
Diversified challenges and opportunities in the emerging world have caused a new shift in the field of Psychology which is full of promises and ample possibilities for exploration and innovation to better understand the mind-body, society-culture, interpersonal and intrapersonal transactions with the help of scientific methodology and training. M.Sc. Psychology is a Master’s degree programme of professional nature oriented towards opening the new vistas of career in diverse fields.M.Sc. Psychology is a master’s degree programme of professional nature. The course has been structured for the direct application of psychology in various fields. It opens new vistas of career in specialized fields like Hospitals, Clinics, Jails, Mental Hospitals, Advertisement Units, Detective Agencies, Women and Child Development Organizations and various Social Welfare Organizations. The course offers History and Theoretical Foundation, Research Methodology and Statistics, Biopsychology, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Computer Applications in Psychology, Developmental Psychology & Life Span Perspectives, Neuropsychology, Emotion and Motivation, Psychopathology, Environmental Studies in Psychological Perspectives, Communication Skills, Clinical Psychology, Health Psychology, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Psychometrics, Criminal Behaviour & Forensic Psychology , Neuro-cognitive Disorders, Rehabilitation Psychology, Human resource Development, Para Psychology. The courses include the latest trends in psychology with emphasis on practical training and field work. The course laid a special emphasis on the acquisition of knowledge and skills through theoretical understanding and its practical implication. The department has already initiated the process of revising all the courses at PG level. In addition to lecturing as the primary mode of instruction, teaching is also interactive with due emphasis on Seminar, Presentation & Discussion and also experiential exercises & peer mentoring. The course is highly job-oriented.
