B.Sc. pass/honors with Botany with any two of the following such as chemistry, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Environmental Sciences, and Genetics with at least 50% marks in aggregate or other equivalent examination organized by state/private/deemed university.

The Department of Botany was established under faculty of Life Science in 2014 with the vision to develop the scientific abilities and technical proficiency to become the “ CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE”. The main motto of the department is to ensure that students can achieve an up-to-date level of understanding of plant science. The department admits 30 students each to the M.Sc 1st and 2nd year classes. The disciplines studied include plant structure, growth and development, plant molecular biology, physiology and biochemistry, plant pathology, ecology, genetis, systematics, evolution, bioinformatics and transgenic technology on a variety of taxa ranging from algae, fungi and other microbes, bryophytes and vascular plants(ferns, gymnosperms and angiosperms including crop plants) at the cellular, organismal and ecosystem levels. The faculty tries to develop the better environment for students which help them for understanding the botanical and biological world beyond their books, classroom and laboratory. The department takes a conscious effort to expand its teaching program bringing together novel developments in the field with traditional areas of Botany such as plant systematics, biodiversity & its conservation, plant physiology & pathology, environment & ecology and other fields related to plant sciences.The department is bound to multi-dimensional development of students by organizing different quiz competition, seminars and workshops .Renowned botanists/ biologists regularly visited the department for guiding the students to share their expertise in the field of Botany. Since the inception of the department, various educational trips have been organized for familiarizing the students with different techniques and processes used in research laboratories of various institutes and universities. Some of the students also qualified NET and joined Ph.D in various state and central universities. Career Opportunities i)In government sector such as forest services, botanical park curator, rangers, teaching and other higher groups. ii)Private sector like various nursery, tissue culture laboratory and drug companies.
