A message from ProQuest
In 2020, we’ve witnessed a reckoning about the long history of racism in the U.S. and around the world. At ProQuest, we recognize and embrace our responsibility to be part of the solution to this ongoing crisis of inequality – to help create a better, more just, and more compassionate future.
To that end, we’ve collaborated with Black history scholars and applied our expertise in content curation and educational technology to open a world of original documents that tell the story of the African American experience. Free to all, Black Freedom Struggle in the U.S. gathers 2,000 primary source documents around six crucial phases of the fight for civil and human rights.
We hope that exploring the documents in Black Freedom Struggle in the U.S. in the classroom, through a library portal or here on the ProQuest website will lead to greater understanding of an inclusive American history – one that more accurately reflects all experiences.
